JDAC Mural Competition 2017
On September 20, 2017 Hastings College held their second annual mural competition for high school students at the Jackson Dinsdale Art Center. The theme for the competition was presented differently that last year. One student from each school drew words out of three different containers that created the theme for the mural they would create that day. Ruth Mathson was the lucky Hampton student who drew for the group. The three words drawn: pugs, noodles, and squids. The students were allowed 30 minutes to collaboratively plan out their composition on the 46"x76" vinyl mural surface with their teacher. The students painted with a purpose and worked together to create a successful composition in four hours. The students were in competition against 20 other schools from different class sizes. We did not place in the top three but I am very proud of our Hampton Hawks and the hard work they put into their mural.
Participating Students: Ella Montoya, Julia Jones, Hannah Hettle, Emily Wishman, Treavar Pekar, and Ruth Mathson.
